Officer Narrowly Avoids Striking Pedestrian
A Lawrenceburg Police Officer narrowly avoided striking a pedestrian who reportedly stepped into his path of travel Saturday night.
The officer reported that he had been traveling north along Buffalo Road when the incident occurred.
According to the officer, a pedestrian stepped into the street in front of his patrol car, leaving him very little time to avoid hitting him.
The officer was successful in avoiding the pedestrian. He stopped to check on the man and reports that he was in a highly intoxicated state.
Adalberto Cejas Diaz, 46, of Vine Circle, Loretto, was placed under arrest charges of public intoxication and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He will be required to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 1, 2009, to answer the charge.
